Cutera® Excel HR: The Gold Standard in Laser Hair Elimination
Combining a new high-power 755 nm Alexandrite laser and Cutera’s proven long-pulse 1064 nm Nd: YAG laser, coupled with the superiority of sapphire contact cooling, excel HR redefines modern laser hair removal in Burnaby.
The 755 nm Alexandrite laser is highly absorbed by melanin, making it an ideal solution for finer hair on skin types I-III.
The 1064 nm Nd: YAG is the safest wavelength for permanent hair reduction on darker and tanned skin types. Its unique design, longer wavelength, and innovative cooling technology allow for effective, safe, and lasting laser hair removal in Burnaby for all skin tones.

Better than IPL
While Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) reduces hair by damaging the follicle with scattered light energy, the Cutera Excel HR eliminates the hair follicle entirely using precise wavelengths for more permanent results.
Summer Safe, Even with a Tan
The Cutera Excel HR uses precise wavelengths to target the pigment in the hair follicle without affecting the melanin in the skin, making it safe for use on tanned skin and deeper skin tones.
No Cryospray, No Cryoburn
Unlike many laser devices that use cryogen spray cooling, the Cutera Excel HR employs contact cooling, reducing the risk of skin burns and enhancing safety.
Safe Heat Technology
The Excel HR features a sapphire cooling tip that lowers the epidermal temperature by 4 degrees with each pulse, ensuring the skin remains cool and calm for a comfortable treatment experience.
Smart Pulse Technology
Delivers the most consistent pulsed energy for optimal results and comfort, eliminating the need for numbing cream.

FAQs
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal targets the melanin (pigment) in your hair follicles using concentrated light energy. The laser heats and damages the follicle, inhibiting its ability to grow hair in the future. Only hairs in the active growth phase (anagen) are effectively treated, which is why multiple sessions are required.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal offers long-term hair reduction, not 100% permanent removal. Most clients see up to or exceeding 90% reduction in hair growth in the treated area. Remaining hair tends to be finer, lighter, and slower-growing. Occasional maintenance sessions may be needed.
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients require 6–10 sessions, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart. The average is 8 sessions. Some may need more due to dense hair, hormonal conditions (like PCOS), or being on HRT.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most people describe the sensation as a mild snap or flick, similar to a rubber band against the skin. Discomfort is minimal and temporary. Newer laser systems often include cooling technology to improve comfort during treatment.
Can all skin types be treated?
Yes, with the right technology. We use medical-grade lasers suitable for a range of Fitzpatrick skin types, including darker complexions. During your consultation, we assess your skin and hair to choose the safest and most effective settings.
What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal can safely and effectively treat nearly any area of the body, including the face (such as the upper lip, chin, and cheeks), underarms, arms, legs, bikini and Brazilian areas, chest, back, abdomen, shoulders, and neck.
Are there any side effects?
Mild redness or swelling can occur and typically subsides within a few hours. Rare side effects include temporary pigment changes or sensitivity. Following aftercare instructions significantly reduces risks.
What should I do before my appointment?
Before your laser hair removal session, make sure to shave the treatment area 24 hours in advance. Avoid waxing, tweezing, or threading for 4 to 6 weeks prior to your appointment. Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before your session. On the day of treatment, do not apply any lotions, creams, or deodorant to the area.
What should I avoid after treatment?
After your laser hair removal session, avoid hot baths, saunas, or intense workouts for at least 24 hours. Stay out of the sun and apply a broad-spectrum SPF to protect the treated area. Refrain from scrubbing or exfoliating the area for a few days, and do not pluck or wax any hair regrowth between sessions.
Is laser hair removal safe for hormonal hair growth (PCOS, HRT)?
Yes, Clients with hormonal imbalances like PCOS or those on HRT can still benefit from laser hair removal. However, more sessions and maintenance treatments may be necessary due to ongoing hormone-related hair growth stimulation.
When will I see results?
Most clients begin to see a reduction in hair growth after 2–3 sessions, with full results becoming more visible after 6–10 treatments.
Can I do laser hair removal if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Laser hair removal is not recommended during pregnancy due to lack of safety studies. It may be done while breastfeeding, but it’s best to consult your provider first.
